Description
Quick and easy method to cook steak using an air fryer, achieving a tender and flavorful steak with a good crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (1-inch thick) steak (such as sirloin, ribeye, or New York strip)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: Garlic powder, onion powder, or steak seasoning
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak: Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Rub both sides with olive oil, then season generously with salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings. Let the steak sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
- Cook the Steak: Place the seasoned steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer. For Rare (125-130°F): Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway. For Medium-Rare (130-135°F): Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway. For Medium (135-140°F): Cook for 12-14 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Rest and Serve: Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steak from the air fryer and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing against the grain and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender steak.
Notes
- Resting the steak is important for a more tender result.
