Description

Make delicious apple fritters at home with this easy recipe. Enjoy crispy, golden-brown fritters with a sweet glaze, perfect for brunch or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Gently fold in the diced apples.
  5. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the apple mixture into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
  7. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
  10. Dip the warm fritters in the glaze or drizzle the glaze over the top.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh, crisp apples.
  • Do not overcrowd the pot when frying, as this will lower the oil temperature and result in greasy fritters.
  • Adjust the amount of milk in the glaze to achieve your desired consistency.
  • Store leftover fritters in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat before serving for best taste.
