Easy Crockpot BBQ Chicken

Description

A simple and delicious recipe for BBQ chicken made in your crockpot. Perfect for a weeknight meal.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts or thighs in the bottom of your crockpot.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until chicken is cooked through and tender.
  6. Remove chicken from the crockpot and shred with two forks.
  7. Return shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir to coat with the sauce.
  8. Serve hot on buns, over rice, or with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For shredded chicken, you can also remove the chicken and shred it on a cutting board before returning it to the sauce.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar to your sweetness preference.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.
