Description
These cinnamon rolls feature a sweet apple filling and a rich caramel glaze. They are perfect for breakfast or dessert.

- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ¼ cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in the egg, melted butter, and salt. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the filling. In a bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
- Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the apple filling evenly.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal slices.
- Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the rolls bake, prepare the caramel glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and caramel sauce until smooth.
- Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle generously with the caramel glaze. Serve warm.
Notes
- Ensure your milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
- If you don’t have a warm spot for rising, preheat your oven to its lowest setting for a few minutes, then turn it off and place the dough inside.
- For extra caramel flavor, you can add a pinch of salt to the caramel glaze.
