Description

Create delightful caramel apples with this easy-to-follow recipe. Perfect for fall, Halloween, or a sweet treat any time of year. Customize your apples with various toppings for a fun and delicious experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • 1 (14 ounce) package caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, chocolate chips, sea salt
  • 6 wooden sticks

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove stems and insert a wooden stick into the core of each apple.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine unwrapped caramel candies and milk or heavy cream.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the caramel is completely melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Dip each apple into the melted caramel, turning to coat evenly. Lift the apple and let excess caramel drip off.
  5. If using toppings, immediately roll the caramel-covered apple in your desired toppings.
  6. Place the caramel apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the caramel to set before serving.

Notes

  • For easier dipping, you can transfer the melted caramel to a tall, narrow glass.
  • If the caramel becomes too thick while dipping, microwave for a few more seconds to soften it.
  • Store caramel apples in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
