Description

A nostalgic coffee drink that combines the comforting flavors of breakfast cereal-infused milk with espresso.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 cup breakfast cereal
  • 12 shots espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 12 tsp sweetener (optional)
  • Ice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine milk and cereal in a saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes until warm and flavored. Do not boil. Let steep for 5 minutes.
  2. Strain the cereal milk through a fine-mesh sieve into a mug or jar. Discard cereal. Allow to cool in the refrigerator if making an iced latte.
  3. Brew 1-2 shots of espresso or prepare 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee.
  4. For a hot latte: Heat cereal milk if cooled. Froth the milk. Pour espresso into a mug, then top with frothed cereal milk. Add sweetener if desired.
  5. For an iced latte: Fill a glass with ice. Pour cooled cereal milk into the glass. Gently pour espresso over the top. Stir and add sweetener if desired.

Notes

  • Oat or almond milk are good non-dairy options.
  • Popular cereal choices include Fruity Pebbles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Lucky Charms.
  • Maple syrup or vanilla syrup can be used as sweeteners.
