- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups cooked lobster meat, chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce has thickened. Stir in salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add cooked macaroni and lobster meat to the cheese sauce. Stir to combine.
- Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
