Description

These bars offer the classic taste of cinnamon rolls in an easy-to-make bar form. They are perfect for a quick breakfast or a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the 1/2 cup milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the batter in the pan. If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans over the cinnamon sugar.
  8. Carefully spread the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar layer.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. While the bars are cooling, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is at room temperature for best creaming results.
  • Do not overmix the batter; mix until just combined to keep the bars tender.
  • Allow bars to cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting.
