Description

A timeless and comforting meatloaf recipe, just like grandma used to make. This classic features simple ingredients for a delicious family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  4. Spread half of the ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake for 1 hour.
  6. Remove from oven and spread the remaining ketchup over the top.
  7. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture.
  • If you don’t have breadcrumbs, you can use crushed crackers or stale bread.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes and your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.
