A traditional recipe for tender Swedish meatballs served in a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for any occasion.

 - 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.
- Add flour to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Return meatballs to the skillet.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and sauce has thickened.
- Stir in parsley. Serve hot.
Notes
- Serve with mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.
- Lingonberry jam is a traditional accompaniment.
