Prepare creamy scalloped potatoes in your crockpot for an easy and comforting side dish.

- 5 lbs Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 4 tbsp butter, cut into pieces
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the crockpot, followed by half of the sliced onions and half of the butter pieces.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, onions, and butter.
- In a large saucepan, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened. Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and nutmeg.
- Pour the sauce over the potatoes in the crockpot. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until potatoes are tender.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon or ham between the layers.
- Use a mandoline for uniform potato slices.
