Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- Pour the apple mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- In another small bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter evenly over the apples.
- Pour the melted butter over the batter.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
