Description
A simple and comforting goulash recipe featuring ground beef and macaroni, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the elbow macaroni to the pot. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally.
- If desired, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For a creamier goulash, you can stir in a dollop of sour cream or a splash of heavy cream at the end.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or corn.
