Description
This simple berry crumble recipe features a sweet and buttery topping over a mix of fresh or frozen berries. It is easy to prepare and bakes to a golden finish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (plus 2 tablespoons for berries)
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1 pound mixed berries (fresh or frozen), such as blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish or 4 individual ramekins.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and cinnamon (if using). Add the cold, cubed butter and use your fingertips or a pastry blender to cut it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, combine the berries, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat.
- Pour the berry mixture into the prepared baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the berries.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the berry filling is bubbly. If the topping starts to brown too quickly, loosely cover it with foil.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
