Description
A quick and simple Mongolian ground beef recipe that you can make in under 15 minutes, perfect for a fast weeknight dinner.

 - 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Green onions, sliced, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the vegetable oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, and rice vinegar.
- In another small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth.
- Pour the soy sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Serve the Mongolian ground beef over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for ground beef.
- Adjust brown sugar to your sweetness preference.
