Description

Ingredients

  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/43 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, sugar, salt, melted butter, and egg. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add 3 1/4 cups flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. If needed, add up to 1/2 cup more flour.
  3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat all sides. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Roll each piece into a rope and tie into a knot. Place rolls on a greased baking sheet.
  7. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley. Mix well.
  8. Brush garlic butter mixture over the rolls.
  9. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use salted butter.
  • Add parmesan cheese to the garlic butter mixture for garlic parmesan bread rolls.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
