- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in salt and olive oil. Gradually add flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a round or oblong loaf.
- Place the loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
