- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups gluten-free breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 pound mozzarella string cheese, cut into 2-inch pieces
- Cooking spray or oil for air frying/baking
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the gluten-free flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- In a third shallow dish, combine the gluten-free breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Dip each mozzarella stick piece first into the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Shake off any excess.
- Next, dip the floured mozzarella stick into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off.
- Finally, roll the egg-coated mozzarella stick in the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for a thicker crust if desired.
- Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a plate or baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) or your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- If using an air fryer, lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or brush with oil. Arrange the frozen mozzarella sticks in a single layer. Cook for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- If baking, place the frozen mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray or brush them with oil. Bake for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve immediately with your favorite marinara sauce.

- For extra crispy sticks, ensure they are well-frozen before cooking.
- You can add other seasonings to the breadcrumb mixture, such as Italian seasoning or paprika.
- If you don’t have gluten-free breadcrumbs, you can pulse gluten-free bread in a food processor until fine crumbs form.
