- 1 loaf of day-old bread, cubed
- 1 pound sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 teaspoons dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 2 large eggs, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, cooked sausage, celery, onion, parsley, sage, thyme, and pepper.
- Pour melted butter over the mixture and toss to coat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together chicken broth and beaten eggs.
- Pour the broth mixture over the bread mixture and toss gently to combine.
- Transfer the stuffing to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
Notes
- You can use different types of bread, such as sourdough or French bread.
- For a vegetarian option, omit the sausage and add more vegetables.
- Add cranberries or nuts for additional flavor and texture.
