- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 container chocolate frosting
- Red gel food coloring
- Mini marshmallows
- Chocolate sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
- Fill cupcake liners about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
- Tint chocolate frosting with red gel food coloring to create a blood-red color.
- Frost each cupcake with the red frosting.
- Cut mini marshmallows in half to resemble vampire teeth.
- Arrange marshmallow teeth on top of each cupcake to create a ‘bite mark’.
- Sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles, if desired.
Notes
- For extra flair, use a pastry bag to pipe the frosting.
- Add a drop or two of peppermint extract to the frosting for a minty flavor.
- Use a toothpick to create drips of ‘blood’ down the sides of the cupcakes.
