Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  5. Serve on hamburger buns.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • You can also add other vegetables, such as celery or carrots.
