Description
Simple sloppy joes made with tomato sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
- Add onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto hamburger buns and serve.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of brown sugar and mustard to suit your taste.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
