Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian herb seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, olive oil, and Italian herb seasoning to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it in half.
  7. Roll each half into a 12-inch rope.
  8. Twist the two ropes together and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and minced garlic.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
