Description

This meatloaf with brown sugar glaze recipe offers a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors. The glaze caramelizes beautifully during baking, creating a rich, flavorful crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, ketchup, and mustard for the glaze.
  5. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a moister meatloaf, add 1/4 cup of grated zucchini or carrots to the meat mixture.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or a combination of ground beef and ground pork for the ground beef.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar in the glaze to your liking.
  • Store leftover meatloaf in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat slices in the microwave or oven until warmed through.
