Description

Make crispy onion ring chips for a quick snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Separate the onion slices into rings.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk milk and egg.
  4. Place panko bread crumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Dip each onion ring in the flour mixture, then in the milk mixture, and finally in the panko bread crumbs, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove onion rings and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, ranch, or barbecue sauce.
