Description

Make delicious pan-fried chicken dumplings with this easy-to-follow recipe. Achieve crispy exteriors and juicy fillings for a perfect weeknight meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package (about 50) round dumpling wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Place a dumpling wrapper in your palm. Add about 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture to the center.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper in half to form a half-moon shape, pressing the edges to seal. You can create pleats on one side for a decorative look.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Arrange the dumplings in the skillet, flat-side down, without overcrowding.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  7. Pour water into the skillet. Cover immediately and reduce heat to medium.
  8. Steam for 5-7 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through and the water has evaporated.
  9. Remove the lid and let the dumplings cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the bottoms to crisp up again.
  10. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the chicken mixture.
  • You can use store-bought or homemade dumpling wrappers.
  • If you don’t have sesame oil, you can substitute with another oil, but sesame oil adds a unique flavor.
  • Serve with soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil for dipping.
