- 3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the peaches.
- Pour the peach mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the milk and stir until just combined, forming a soft dough. Do not overmix.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough evenly over the peach mixture in the baking dish.
- Brush the tops of the dough with melted butter.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use fresh, ripe peaches.
- If using canned peaches, drain them well and reduce the sugar in the filling slightly.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
