A cozy and comforting weeknight meal that combines the flavors of pizza with the satisfying structure of a pot pie.

- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
- 4 oz pepperoni, quartered
- 1 (15-oz) can pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza crust or 1 package frozen puff pastry, thawed
- Optional: mushrooms, olives, other favorite pizza toppings
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare pie dish or skillet.
- Sauté onion and bell pepper in olive oil until softened. Add meat if using and cook until browned.
- Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in optional toppings. Let cool slightly.
- Press half of the pizza crust into the bottom of the prepared dish. Pierce with a fork.
- Pour the pizza sauce mixture over the bottom crust. Sprinkle with cheeses.
- Place the remaining pizza crust over the filling. Seal and crimp edges. Cut slits in the top crust.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cover edges with foil if browning too quickly.
- Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- If the crust starts to brown too quickly, you can cover the edges loosely with aluminum foil.
- Let the Pizza Pot Pie cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
