Description
A straightforward and easy-to-follow recipe for homemade chicken stuffing, perfect for beginner cooks.
Ingredients

							Scale

 - 6 cups day-old bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 3/4 cups chicken broth, plus more if needed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the dried sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Add the bread cubes and cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour in 1 3/4 cups of chicken broth. Toss gently until the bread is moistened. If the mixture seems too dry, add a little more broth, a tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Transfer the stuffing mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the stuffing is heated through.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For a crispier top, you can broil the stuffing for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
