  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced

  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth, plus more if needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the dried sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Add the bread cubes and cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour in 1 3/4 cups of chicken broth. Toss gently until the bread is moistened. If the mixture seems too dry, add a little more broth, a tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Transfer the stuffing mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the stuffing is heated through.
  7. Serve hot.

  • For a crispier top, you can broil the stuffing for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
