- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sourdough discard, unfed
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the flour and sourdough discard, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with fudgy crumbs.
- Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them.
- Add nuts or other toppings for variety.
