Description

Make crispy and spicy Korean fried chicken quickly and easily in your air fryer. This recipe uses gochujang for an authentic flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken wings or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken pieces to the bowl and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and toss again.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in batches.
  6. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until chicken is cooked through and crispy.
  7. While chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, whisk together gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  8. Heat the sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the sauce over it. Toss to coat evenly.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crispy chicken, lightly spray the chicken with cooking oil before air frying.
  • Adjust the amount of gochujang and red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and visual appeal.
