Description
Make crispy and spicy Korean fried chicken quickly and easily in your air fryer. This recipe uses gochujang for an authentic flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs chicken wings or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Sauce:
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken pieces to the bowl and toss to coat evenly.
- Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and toss again.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in batches.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until chicken is cooked through and crispy.
- While chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, whisk together gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Heat the sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
- Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the sauce over it. Toss to coat evenly.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra crispy chicken, lightly spray the chicken with cooking oil before air frying.
- Adjust the amount of gochujang and red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and visual appeal.
