Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup, plus more for glaze
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, eggs, milk, 1/4 cup ketchup, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme.
  3. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  5. Spread additional ketchup over the top of the loaf for the glaze.
  6. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a moister meatloaf, you can add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard to the mixture.
  • You can substitute half of the ground beef with ground pork or veal for a different flavor profile.
  • Ensure all ingredients are well-chilled before mixing for the best texture.
