- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground turkey over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, and smoked paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Spoon the turkey mixture onto hamburger buns and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Serve with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw or potato chips.
