Description

Enjoy this warm and comforting apple cobbler with a delicious cinnamon topping. It’s the perfect dessert for fall evenings and family gatherings. The baked apples are tender and flavorful, complemented perfectly by the sweet and spicy streusel.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and sprinkle with a tablespoon of sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange the apple slices evenly over the batter.
  7. To make the topping, combine the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  8. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
  9. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar in the batter.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves to the apple mixture for extra warmth.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
