Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth
Add eggs and vanilla extract; mix well
Gradually mix in flour, baking soda, and adjusted salt
Fold in chocolate chips
Press dough into a round shape (12-inch diameter) on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Bake 25-30 minutes until edges are golden and center is set
Cool completely before slicing
Notes
Use salted butter if preferred; reduce added salt by 1/4 tsp
Substitute gluten-free flour blend if needed
Non-alcoholic almond extract can replace vanilla
