Ingredients

  • 1 package hot dogs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Insert a wooden skewer into each hot dog.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Add milk and egg to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Pour panko breadcrumbs into a separate bowl.
  5. Dip each hot dog into the batter, then roll in panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully fry the corn dogs until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the batter.
  • You can use different types of sausages.
