Description

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter, 1 large egg, vanilla extract, buttermilk, and red food coloring.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan.
  6. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, and egg yolk until smooth for the cheesecake swirl.
  7. Spoon dollops of the cheesecake mixture over the red velvet batter in the pan.
  8. Pour the remaining red velvet batter over the cheesecake mixture.
  9. Swirl gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
